Old Fire Station N16

Our Urban Farm Shop sells extra items including bread from e5 Bakehouse and organic eggs, as well as produce from our Hackney sites. It's open on Wednesdays from 3.30pm - 6.45pm.

The Old Fire Station in Stoke Newington is home to GC's office and packing operations. It provides long-term space for not-for-profit and community groups. It offers rooms and halls for short-term hire and a programme of classes and activities.

Gate access: After staffed collection times (Wednesdays, 3:30–6:45pm), the main gate is locked with a keypad. This requires good vision and hand dexterity to operate.
Storage access: Bags are stored on shelves at different heights, which may require reaching, bending, or stretching.
Parking: You can pull in directly in front of the gates if driving, or park on the street nearby.

Beehive

Stoneleigh Road, N17 9BQ

Collect any time during these hours: Thursday: 6pm - late; Friday: 3pm - late; Saturday: 12pm - 5pm.

Please note: the Beehive is not suitable for people with mobility issues.

The Beehive is a great pub off Bruce Grove, serving local beers from the Redemption Brewery, as well as the great Bruce Stove Kitchen.

Limited mobility access: The cupboard can only be reached by climbing onto a bench, so it is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Blue House Yard

A creative hub near Wood Green Tube. It houses create workspaces and colourful "worksheds" for small retail outlets and craft enterprises. They have weekend craft markets and street food in the evenings.

Castle Climbing Centre

Green Lanes, N4 2HA

Housed in a striking Victorian water pumping station, the Castle is massively committed to improving its environmental performance. The kitchen garden welcomes volunteers and provides fresh, organic produce for the café.

Keypad locks: The cupboard is accessed via 2 keypad locks. This requires good vision and hand dexterity to operate.

Parking: There is one disabled parking bay outside the Castle and plenty of bike parking.

Copper Lane N16

A cohousing project near Newington Green.

Core Clapton

A charitable initiative making osteopathy accessible to everyone. A social collaborative space for health, wellbeing, events and learning. Beautiful spaces for hire.

Dalston Curve Garden

A beautiful oasis opposite Dalston Junction station. There is a café and a spacious wooden pavilion for events, workshops and gatherings as well as wildlife-friendly trees and shrubs.

Ramp access: The wooden ramp into the garden can become slippery when wet.

Deli at 80

A neighbourhood deli providing healthy delicious food for happy bodies. Buy additive-free and ethically sourced goodies or stay for a coffee and a pastry.

Downhills Park

Philip Lane/West Green Road, N15 4AE

Veg cupboards are near the entrance to Downhills Park opposite Forks & Green restaurant on the paved section of Philip Lane/West Green Road.

Ground conditions: When leaves have fallen, the area can become slippery and uneven earth around trees may be difficult to see.

e5 Bakehouse

An East London artisan bakery and coffee shop. Their head bakers also share their knowledge and expertise in bread-making courses.

Groundwork East

Grow Hackney Wick

98c Main Yard, Wallis Road, London E9 5LN

An independent self-organised creative space, bar and kitchen in Hackney Wick, which hosts a diverse programme celebrating and nurturing local and international creative talent. It is also part of an ecosystem of studios founded in 2007.

Path and entry: There is an uneven concrete path leading to the venue. Double doors are often closed in colder months and may need to be opened to allow wheelchair access.
Bar area: Inside the bar area there are stools and tables to navigate. The venue can be busy during peak times (especially evenings). Bar staff are available to assist.
Inner access to cupboards: A second set of double doors leads to a space with a deep step onto a gravel floor, followed by another step up to the cupboards. The surface here is uneven and the space is too narrow for wheelchair access.
Padlocks: There is a padlocked door and padlocked cupboard. These require good hand dexterity and adequate vision to operate.

Parking: Brief parking is sometimes possible, but private parking areas must be avoided. GROW can arrange parking for those who require it for access reasons. Please email [email protected] with as much notice as possible.

Hackney City Farm

A city farm in London dedicated to helping people learn about food, nature and the environment. A hub for community and environmental projects and home to Get Loose organic unpackaged shop.

Ground conditions: The pathway in front of the cupboards is cobbled and uneven underfoot.

Hackney Downs Studios

A thriving creative community, including several small shops and businesses, tucked away off Hackney Downs Park in an ex-industrial printworks. An Eat Work Art project.

Redmond Centre

Located in tranquil Woodberry Down, next to the Wetlands, 2 minutes’ walk from Manor House station. The Redmond offers a wide range of activities for the community and private hire for weddings, birthdays, funerals and other gatherings.

St Peters

St Peter de Beauvoir church, Northchurch Terrace, De Beauvoir Town, N1 4DA

Collect any time during these hours: Thursdays 1pm - 10pm, Fridays 8am - 8.30pm

A focus for all sorts of community events during the week. The fully accessible crypt is a thriving centre for social interaction, creativity, cultural expression and community support.

Ramp access: There is a long ramp that is smooth and non-slip, but it may be at a slightly steep angle. It is suitable for buggies and bikes but may be more challenging for some mobility scooters and wheelchairs.
Post-ramp access: After the ramp, access becomes more difficult due to uneven, pitted paving and a drain gully in an awkward position. The space may also be too narrow for some mobility aids.
Space constraints: Opening cupboard doors would not be possible from a wheelchair, as the alley in which they sit is narrow.
Keypad and padlocks: Access requires entering a gate with a keypad and unlocking padlocked cupboards, so good hand dexterity and adequate vision are needed.

Tottenham Green
